  • I am most proud of being in the position I am today, as a first-generation Hispanic woman in medicine I have the opportunity to take on a leadership role and advocate for change. It is a position I don't take lightly and I will continue to work on opening doors for others and advocating for diversity within medicine.

  • You might be surprised to know that from a young age, I had taken an interest in studying my heritage and more specifically ancient Mexican civilizations. My family lives in a rural city in Mexico known for its many Aztec ruins that can be admired from the backyard. This developed into a passion for traveling to regions previously inhabited by many indigenous civilizations and exploring their culture and traditions.

  • ElevateMeD is… an organization that not only inspires and supports future physicians but advocates for diversity and inclusion in medicine. It represents an entire community of leaders that believe in uplifting the next generation of physicians. This organization believes in the students who will become future physician leaders, who will not only strive to improve health outcomes but will advocate for change. This organization has identified barriers underrepresented minorities in medicine are facing and has created opportunities for success through financial support, mentorship and networking. It is about coming together and using our voices proudly.
