ElevateMeD Scholar: Sydni Williams

Meet Sydni Wlliams

ElevateMeD Scholar 2024-25

Sydni Williams plans to advocate for the patients of marginalized identity who present to the emergency department (ED) to receive care. The ED is many of these patient’s first interface with the healthcare system and she’s eager to serve as an ally for these patients.

  • Hometown: Detroit, Michigan

  • Medical Education: Emory University School of Medicine

  • Undergraduate Education: University of Michigan - Ann Arbor in Spanish & Writing

  • Current Career Plan: Applying into the specialty of Emergency Medicine, complete a Critical Care fellowship, and practice as a EM-Crit Care physician within academia. I plan to continue my journey to becoming a physician-researcher by continuing to conduct impactful research on the relationship between racism & physical health outcomes.

  • Specialty Interest: Emergency Medicine

  • I am most proud of my tenacity and ability to stay steadfast on my journey even as obstacles try to knock me off my path.

  • You might be surprised to know that I was a cheerleader for much of my life and during college.
