Marissa Shaffer-Ward

Marissa Shaffer-Ward’s background spans technology, global affairs, and entrepreneurship. As a former senior technical writer at ServiceNow, wrote about software, systems, air transportation, and finance. Marissa holds a Masters of Science in Global Technology and Development from Arizona State University, focused on sustainable development and socio-economic empowerment. She additionally holds an MA in International Affairs and Diplomacy, her research there focusing on addressing global challenges effectively and promoting gender inclusion in peace process negotiations. In 2010, Marissa founded her own hair care business which was resilient during the nation’s challenging economic times.
As prior manager of a non-profit girls’ group home, Marissa guided girls growing up in foster care. Later, she championed women and minorities in technology and STEM fields by organizing and moderating technology conference panels for Women In Tech. Marissa was elected to serve on a corporate works council advocating for employee interests and corporate governance during her time living in the Netherlands.
Currently as co-owner and managing partner of Hermanas Italian Ice in Georgia, Marissa leads strategic planning and oversees daily operations of the business. She and her husband also contribute to a non-profit organization co-founded in the Dominican Republic, which provides technology education to underserved communities. Marissa writes music lyrics and has produced songs.
