High School Session

ElevateMeD endeavors to create a pipeline of diverse physician leaders and as such we are launching a high school initiative at our annual Scholars Summit. The ElevateMeD High School Program will support 30 high school students interested in attending postsecondary education and pursuing a career in medicine. Participants will be paired with one of our esteemed ElevateMeD Scholars. Our ElevateMeD Scholars are fourth year medical students that are able to share their learnings and experiences about medical school and serve as mentors to the high school participants during the workshops. Participants will have the unique opportunity to engage with their peers and experience hands-on simulation labs, further fostering their interest in medicine. This program will provide students interested in medicine with enhanced knowledge and experience as they begin their journey to becoming a physician.

ElevateMeD is a nonprofit organization developed out of the need to elevate medicine to an ideal where the physician workforce racially and ethnically represents the community served. Medical education costs have become prohibitive, distracting bright students from seeking a career in medicine. As such, medical students from racial and ethnic backgrounds traditionally underrepresented in medicine are facing unprecedented levels of indebtedness, stifling their future career choices. For the past five years, ElevateMeD has provided the ElevateMeD Scholars program that focuses on the following five pillars: financial assistance, mentorship, leadership development, peer networking, and financial education and wellness. ElevateMeD is supporting the next generation of culturally competent physician leaders who are poised to serve all communities and help reduce health disparities.

About the ElevateMeD Scholars Summit

Initiated in 2021, the ElevateMeD Scholars Summit is an annual leadership conference designed to provide ElevateMeD Scholars with live professional development workshops and the opportunity to network with their peers,  mentors, and ElevateMeD Board members. Facilitated by industry leaders, participants will receive interactive, personalized programming that supports our five programmatic pillars. The Scholars Summit is currently hosted during “Explosion of a Dream” weekend.
